Plein Air in Graphite
I've been loving taking my pencils out to the streets and sidewalks of my city and county to capture urban scenes of moments in time. Plein air drawing is when I go on location to draw freehand and finish pieces of art without touching them up at home or taking photos for reference. This allows me to focus like a laser on a subject, honing in on a moment. I'm forced to consider time, the shifting of shadows and sunlight, the complications of the current elements and the distractions of curious people. I must quickly take in a whole scene and pare the view down based on the desired composition and which medium I choose to use. I hope to add more artwork as my drawing schedule allows.
