Illustrations in Colored Pencil
Drawing from my imagination has never been easy. It's taken years for me to feel comfortable trying to create something original, and the artwork still draws heavily from real life. I think this is a combination of lack of self-confidence mixed with intimidation at the breadth of creation's beauty, wonder, humor, and variety. These colored pencil illustrations are stand alone pieces, mostly based on vivid memories of places or events I've seen on my drives or walks, which I've embellished, adjusted, and clarified for the sake of the composition, visual impact, or story. Despite the challenge of drawing from my imagination, it is extremely rewarding to see the end product and I'm looking forward to continuing to build that skill.
